New policies for 2013 season.
Blue House Farm grows and provides its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members with a wide variety of Certified Organic produce. For the 2013 season, members will receive 30 weeks of CSA boxes, beginning the week of May 20th and continuing through the week of December 9th. CSA members make a commitment to support our farm through the season, and share in the bounty and the risks of growing food.
Sign-ups and Payments
All members must create an account on our website, then:
- If paying by credit card, first create an account online, then enter your credit card information. You can set up automatic payments, or emailed reminders that will let you know when a payment is due. To make payments, just login and pay online.
- If paying by check, first create an account online, then send in your check. Your order will be processed once the check arrives. Make checks payable to Blue House Farm.
Once paid you will have a balance and each week your box will be deducted from that balance on delivery day. You can log in to your account to check your balance at any time.
A membership is not confirmed until you have created an online account and we have received payment.
Refunds and Cancellations
If your box is missing from the pick-up site during the designated pick-up time or the contents of your box are missing, damaged, or otherwise unsatisfactory, contact us within 24 hours to arrange for us to apply credit to your account. As a small farm, we rely upon our CSA members' financial commitment for the entire 30 weeks, however, if you are greatly dissatisfied with our service you may request a cancellation to your membership and we will refund you for the remaining weeks. We do not offer refunds for the 4-week Trial membership. In the event that Blue House Farm is unhappy with a member’s participation in the CSA, we reserve the right to cancel membership and refund the remaining weeks at our discretion.
Vacations
If you are away on vacation or unable to pick-up your box, log in to your account and enter the days that you do not want a box delivered. This needs to happen by 9PM on the Saturday prior to the first delivery you want placed on hold. You will not be charged for those boxes.
Sharing your Box
Many members choose to share their box with a friend. If you do this, designate one person to be the contact person and divide up the box yourself.
Pick-up Protocol
It is the responsibility of the CSA member to pick up their box during the designated time period. If a member is unable to do so, it is their responsibility to entitle a friend to do so (no need to contact us, but please give your friend instructions on pick-up procedures.) If a box is not picked up on the designated day, during the designated time frame, it will be donated at the discretion of the site host. Blue House Farm is not responsible for missing boxes after the designated pick-up time.
Consider the pick-up times firm. In respect for the site host we ask that members do not show up early or late and do your best to keep the pick-up site clean and orderly. We request that you remove the inner bag and leave the box at your pick-up site. Boxes should be carefully flattened and stacked neatly.
Each pick-up site has a folder with a sign-out sheet. Find your name on the sheet and sign or initial to show that you took a box. If your name is not on the list, it means we did not pack a box for you. Do not take a box if your name is not on the list. If your name is not on the list or your name is on the list, but no boxes are available, contact us by e-mail or phone within 24 hours and we will fix the problem by adding credit to your account. Same policy is for add-on items.
Communication/Newsletter
Blue House Farm produces a weekly newsletter for our CSA members. This is our primary form of communication with our members. If you do not read the newsletter we cannot take responsibility for problems you experience as a result. The newsletters are e-mailed to you weekly, are available online at www.bluehouseorganicfarm.com in the News section, and a few hard copies are available in the folder at the drop-sites.
The pick-up site list is our way of indicating the delivery of your box. Do not write notes on the list itself. If you need to contact us for any reason, email is preferred (bluehousefarm@gmail.com) or phone (650)879-0704. If problems arise, contact the farm directly; do not communicate through the site host.
Renewing Membership
To renew your membership for the following season, log in to your account and sign up by purchasing a 2013 membership. Memberships do not automatically renew.
Reusing the Cardboard Boxes
We reuse the cardboard boxes CSA members receive their produce in. Please remove the large bag that contains your produce and leave the box. If you prefer to take the box, return the box to the pick-up site the next week.
Changing Your Pick-up Location
If you have moved or your schedule has changed to the extent that you can no longer pick-up your box at your given location, you may change it. This needs to happen by 9pm on Saturday for the following week’s delivery. A change of location is dependent on availability, as some sites have a limited number of members. Please take the time to read the specific pick-up details of a new site.
Add-on Options
You must be a Blue House Farm CSA member to receive any of the add-on options. Currently those options include: Flower Bouquets, Pastured Eggs, Artisanal Breads, Raw Honey, Pasture-raised Sausage, Jams, Pickles, Salts, Locally Roasted Coffee, vegetables, and fruits. Add-on orders must be completed by 9pm on Saturday to be delivered for the following week. Orders taking place after that time will be delivered an extra week later.
