Blue House Farm grows Certified Organic produce and flowers, available to members through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm box program. For the 2016 season, members will receive up to 30 weeks of CSA boxes, beginning the third week of May and ending the second week of December. CSA members make a commitment to support our farm and share in the farm’s bounty through the season.
Sign-ups and Payments
All members must Create Login Account via bluehousefarm.com, then:
- If paying by credit card, securely enter or update your card number from My Account/settings. Your payment information will be securely stored in your account profile. You can set up automatic payments, or email reminders that will let you know when a payment is due. To make payments, just login and pay online.
- If paying by check, first create an account online, then send in your check. Your order will be processed once the check is received at the farm. Make checks payable to Blue House Farm.
Your account will be charged at the time your order is confirmed. Full season memberships do not auto renew - if all of your credits are used before the end of the season you will receive an email that your account is set to expire. The 4-week membership option will automatically renew after your prepaid deliveries are used - renewal takes place on the Sunday before each delivery and your account will be charged for the single delivery, until the end of the season, or when your account is cancelled. You can log in to your account to view your balance at any time.
A membership is not confirmed until you have created an online account and we have received payment.
Refunds and Cancellations
If your box is missing from the pick-up site during the designated pick-up time or the contents of your box are missing, damaged, or otherwise unsatisfactory, contact us within 24 hours to arrange for us to apply credit to your account. As a small farm, we rely upon our CSA members' financial commitment for the entire 30 weeks, however, if you are greatly dissatisfied with our service you may request a cancellation to your membership and we will refund you for the remaining weeks. We do not offer refunds for the 4-week Trial membership. In the event that Blue House Farm is unhappy with a member’s participation in the CSA, we reserve the right to cancel membership and refund the remaining weeks at our discretion. At the end of the season unused box credits will be applied to next year's subscription.
If you are out of town or unable to pick-up your box, log in to your account and select the days from the calendar that you do not want a box delivered - you can begin placing boxes on Hold as soon as your order is confirmed. Holds or changes must be placed by the end of the day on the Sunday before your scheduled delivery. You will not be charged for held boxes. After Sunday before a delivery you will be blocked from making changes to your online account. Please contact us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need to make a change after this time, and we will approve changes based on our discretion and the status of our harvest process.
Sharing your Box
Many members choose to share their box with a friend. If you do this, designate one person to be the contact person and divide up the box yourself. Contact the farm at email@example.com to have a secondary contact added to receive communication about your account.
It is the responsibility of the CSA member to pick up their box during the designated time period. If a member is unable to do so, it is their responsibility to entitle a friend to do so (no need to contact us, but please give your friend instructions on pick-up procedures.) If a box is not picked up at the designated day and time frame, it will be donated at the discretion of the site host. Neither Blue House Farm nor your site host are responsible for missing boxes after the designated pick-up time.
Consider the pick-up times firm. In respect for the site host we ask that members do not show up early or late and do your best to keep the pick-up site clean and orderly. We request that you remove the inner bag and leave the box at your pick-up site. Boxes should be carefully flattened and stacked neatly so as not to pose a tripping hazard or make more work for the site hosts.
Each pick-up site has a folder with a sign-out sheet. Find your name on the sheet and sign or initial to show that you took a box. If your name is not on the list, it means we did not pack a box for you. Do not take a box if your name is not on the list. If your name is not on the list or your name is on the list but no boxes are available, contact us by e-mail or phone within 24 hours and we will fix the problem by adding credit to your account. The same applies to add-on items.
Blue House Farm produces a weekly emailed newsletter for our CSA members. This is our primary form of communication with our members. Newsletters contain important information - i.e. holiday schedules, new drop sites, as well as updates from the farm and recipes. The newsletter is sent weekly to all members that are scheduled to receive a box that week. An archive of newsletters is available at bluehousefarm.com in the News section, and are also posted on our Twitter and Facebook feeds.
The box sign-out list is our way of indicating the delivery of your box to the drop site. Do not write notes on the list itself - they are not returned to the farm. If you need to contact us for any reason, email is preferred (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (650) 879-0704. If problems arise, contact the farm directly; please do not communicate through the site host.
Membership in the current season does not indicate membership in the upcoming season. At the end of each season you must purchase a new membership in the new season to renew your membership.
Reusing the Cardboard Boxes
We reuse the cardboard boxes that CSA members receive their produce in. Please remove the large bag that contains your produce and flatten the box. If you prefer to take the box, return the box to the pick-up site the next week.
Changing Your Pick-up Location
If you have moved or your schedule has changed to the extent that you can no longer pick-up your box at your given location, you may change it. This needs to happen by midnight on Sunday before your delivery. Please take the time to read the specific pick-up details of a new site.
You must be a Blue House Farm CSA member to receive any of the add-on options. Currently those options include: Flower Bouquets, Pastured Eggs, Raw Honey, Salts, vegetables, and fruits. Add-on orders must be completed by midnight on Sunday before your delivery. Orders taking place after that time will be be added to the next following delivery.
E-mail may be sent to inform you of news of our services or offers. Your e-mail address will not be sold, rented, or leased to 3rd parties.
